The hotel’s restaurant, A Viscondessa, offers fine-dining in an elegant setting, with tables beneath impressive frescoes dating back to the palace’s original construction.

Accommodation
The old (and original) wing houses 23 individually decorated rooms and features rich interiors, frescoes and antique furnishings – evocative of the hotel’s grand history (the Duke of Wellington once used the building as his headquarters during the Peninsula War).
The property has a new, more modern wing too, also with 23 rooms. The décor here is more stripped back, but no less comfy, with views to the grounds and surrounding peaks. Which wing ticks your boxes?

Activities
Unwind with a good book in the picturesque gardens, or take a refreshing dip in the seasonal pool (particularly inviting after a day spent exploring the surrounding area). Several hiking trails of varying difficulties snake through the countryside, where you’ll find local wildlife such as deer and wild boar, and natural wonder such as waterfalls.
The hotel is excellently placed for those wanting to discover the Schist Villages, a series of historic settlements with unique slate buildings, many of which are now centres for traditional arts and crafts.

  Just to say our six day stay in the 'Palcio da Lous Boutique Hotel' was a delight. Comfortable rooms, a peaceful little park to relax in, a pool, too, to refresh after the beautiful hikes we'd do around - above all, the kindest and most dedicated of staff. I shan't forget the splendid breakfast and pleasant restaurant. Just as important in those troubled times: the management's hygienic practices which made us feel more than safe. Again, a real delight.
