Essque Zalu Zanzibar is, as the name suggests, a hip beachside hideaway on Zanzibar, the exotic honeymoon island just off the coast of Tanzania. Situated on the north east coast of Zanzibar this idyllic boutique hotel is everything you could wish for from a romantic holiday in the sun.
Surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, the island is steeped in mystery and history from the exotic spice plantations to the tumbling streets of Swahili.Awards

You won't go hungry during your stay at Essque Zalu Zanzibar as there are 3 restaurants to choose from showcasing local as well as international cuisine. Market Kitchen serves simple delicious food available all day long including fresh seafood, salads, and meats.
The Jetty is in a fantastic position right on the water and is a romantic and relaxed al fresco dining experience which focuses on fresh seafood. Here you can watch the local dhows sail by, relax with a cocktail or gaze into the sunset.
Of course, you may prefer to head to Baobab Bar for an aperitif or if you fancy a drink whilst getting ready for dinner have one of the mixologists come to you with your favourite
cocktail. With a little notice, you can even book in-room dining in the luxury of your suite or villa.
Carefully constructed using natural and local materials, this boutique hotel on Zanzibar also takes advantage of its idyllic position ensuring that each of the 40 suites and 3 and 4 bedrooms villas have views of either the Indian Ocean or surrounding tropical gardens.
Zanzibar is known around the world as a romantic island hideaway, famous for its beautiful beaches and turquoise waters and because of its barefoot chic vibe you don't need to pack much.
You can do nothing but laze by the pool, relax on the beach or head to the world-class spa, or you can try your hand at scuba diving, snorkeling or some of the other water sports available on the island including parasailing and jet skiing.
There are two marine turtle sanctuaries right next to the hotel, worth a visit during your stay. If you are looking for advice on what to do and where to go, your Personal Navigator can put together an itinerary for you which might include a luxury safari in a game reserve, an amble through Stone Town (the oldest Swahili coastal trading town), a hike along the Marangu route or a tour of the famous spice plantations.
We love the idea of setting sail in a wooden dhow and heading for Prison Island for the day where you can sunbathe or swim alongside giant turtles, a very different setting to when it was a detention centre for African slaves.
Africology is the name of the spa which offers a holistic and organic experience for men and for women. It also offers treatments for kids whilst educating them on the importance of a healthy lifestyle, however, if you want to enjoy a pampering session in the spa you can always leave your kids (4-12-year-olds) in the Tinga Club where they will be entertained, educated and looked after.
