The owners of Corte Guastalla, Franco and Orietta Tommasi, stumbled across the building in 2000 and instantly fell in love. Nestled between the hills of the low Garda region surrounding Verona, this crumbling building had all of the ingredientts to transform it into a contemporary boutique hotel where they could invite the world into their home. The aromas of lavender and rosemary greet you on arrival and entice you into the interiors which are filled with antiques, exposed beams, handmade wooden doors and terracotta floors and fine fabrics, all supplied by local artisans. This rural boutique hotel is the ideal base for exploring Verona and Lake Garda away from the crowds.
Relax in the pool, watch the sunset over the hills, read a book in the garden or explore the surrounding area including Lake Garda and the romantic city of Verona. Brush your hands through the lavender and rosemary and breath in the scents of fennel and liquorice.
Breakfast is a magnificent buffet with homemade produce, fresh coffees and juices. Orietta and her team prepare home-made cakes, sweet pies and rose cakes using ingredients from the surrounding orchards. Only fresh eggs from her chickens are used and the homemade jam is the perfect partner for the artisan breads, dough buns with cinnamon and suger and sfogliatine Villafranca. A cooked breakfast and a wide selection of gourmet meats and cheeses is all part of the feast.
