Why so chic?
Why travel experts chose this hotel5 Star HotelIn the centre of VeniceOverlooking the Grand CanalChic Treats
Only when you book with ChicWith a sumptuous décor and an even richer history, the 82-room Gritti Palace is perfect for a luxurious stay in Venice. Since the palazzo was built in 1475, as the home of one of the most powerful families in the Venetian Republic, many famous and notable luminaries have passed through its doors. John Ruskin wrote ‘The Stones of Venice’ while staying at the building, and since the palazzo became a hotel in 1895 past guests have included Somerset Maugham, Elizabeth Taylor, and Ernest Hemingway.
Whether you choose to sit on the terrace and watch gondolas whisk along the Grand Canal, , recline in the opulently appointed lounge, or take some much-needed ‘me time’ in the luxury spa, The Gritti Palace will transport you to a time when La Serenissima was one of the most important cities in the entire world.
Dining
Gourmets will find plenty at The Gritti Palace to tantalise their taste buds. The Gritti Terrace (open from April to October) serves a beautiful breakfast, as well as informal lunches and snacks, on the al-fresco terrace with views of the Grand Canal. The Riva Lounge, inspired by the iconic yacht, serves cocktails on the terrace after the sun goes down.
For romantic dinners, the Club del Doge serves exquisitely prepared Venetian cuisine in sumptuously intimate surroundings. The Longhi Bar takes its name from the 18th century painter, six of whose paintings hang on the walls, and is the perfect place for a nightcap taken amongst the hand-sculptured mirrors, Murano glass lamps, and carved polychromatic marble counter.
