Nestled amidst thriving rice paddies, Blue Karma is a 15-room boutique hotel in Ubud. This is a place where nature and interiors are not exclusive; floor-to-ceiling windows ensure you’re never far from tropical views, while natural materials have been used in anything from the furnishings to the building itself.
The hideaway was dreamed up by artist and traveller Alexa Genoyer, whose artwork is dotted throughout the hotel. Décor is just as charming, the wooden ceilings and odd exposed stone wall creating a rather rustic feel.
A good breakfast is served in the mornings and is included in most room rates. When the hunger pangs kick in again, head to the restaurant for a range of Indonesian and international dishes. A children’s menu is available.
There are 15 rooms at Blue Karma, which have all been lovingly designed with natural materials, wooden furnishings and colourful artwork. Most feature large windows through which you can soak up the stunning gardens and lush surroundings. Beds are just as lavish, kitted out with premium bedding and some even draped in feather-light canopies.
With its blissful surroundings, Blue Karma Ubud is the perfect setting for a bit of much-needed r&r. Enjoy a dip in the outdoor pool, take a yoga class or simply lie back on a lounger and relax. For a bit of pampering, head to the Blue Spa, where you can relieve your stresses with the many treatments and massages on offer.
There’s plenty to explore in Ubud too, with the impressive Ubud Royal Palace just a short drive away. You can also explore Ubud’s traditional art market, which stocks a wide range of handcrafted items from bronze Buddhas to woven bags and scarves.
