Within San Gimignano, Tuscany’s famous medieval town, is the Hotel L’Antico Pozzo. In a neat spot for people watching, overlooking a bustling street, it’s a great place to take in the amazing surroundings of this hilltop settlement.
Antiques abound in rooms and public spaces alike but the building has been carefully renovated to include tasteful modern comforts while maintaining historic significance; low beams and medieval stonework sit comfortably alongside more contemporary furnishings.
There’s a very nice courtyard for breakfasting and staff have excellent suggestions for local dining. A great way to get to grips with Tuscany.
A good breakfast is served and whilst there's no restaurant on site, you are spoilt for choice nearby.
No two of the 18 rooms are the same with some boasting original features, others better views. Unsurprisingly, the cheaper options do come up quite small and tend to be plainer in design.
Located within the city walls, L'Antico Pozzo is the perfect base from which to explore picturesque UNESCO-listed San Gimignano.
Further afield, Siena and Florence are both within an hour's drive and there are plenty of villages to discover besides.
The hotel's staff will happily assist you with arranging tours and activities.
