Castello di Gabiano is an ancient castle with a rich history, in Piedmont, north west Italy. It is run by the Marquis of Gabiano and his wife, who are passionate about providing guests with a luxurious experience to remember. In fact, this has to be one of the best luxury boutique hotel experiences to be had in Piedmont.
A well-kept secret, this stately home has three rooms and three suites available to guests, which are situated in the castle's newly renovated hunting lodge. For those looking for an authentic Italian experience, this is the perfect place to stay.
The estate offers incredible wine, which comes direct from its vineyards. With 260 hectares of grounds, 20 are devoted solely to vineyards, ensuring that the hotel's high standards and intensive production processes are upkept. We highly recommend attending a wine tasting session in the wine shop, and make sure there is room in your suitcase to bring back a bottle!
Half an hour from Turin and an hour from Milan, this hilltop boutique hotel is walking distance from some of the area's best cultural attractions. A hire car is recommended to explore the surrounding area.
The Marquises Cattaneo Adorno Giustiniani, owners of Castello di Gabiano, are passionate about their wine and wine production. The estate has been producing wines since the 13th-century, with 20 hectares dedicated to vineyards.
The result is stunning fine wines, including one of the oldest and smallest DOC in Italy; the Gabiano Reserve is an "A Matilde Giustiniani" made from the best grapes of Barbera. It comes from an ancient vineyard which Princess Matilde herself had laid out!
Take a tour around the vineyards, the cellars and the wine shop during your stay. A wine tasting (or two) is definitely worth experiencing, and you can buy the estate wines in the wine shop.
If you fancy something active, there are a range of golf courses nearby, as well as some incredible cycling trails. Private fishing trips can also be arranged. Get lost in the historic maze, or take part in a cooking class.
The restaurant, 3 Orologi, is located in the 'old vinegar cellars', creating a truly authentic atmosphere. It prides itself on serving delicious meals made with fresh ingredients, often picked the same day from the estates gardens. As only the freshest seasonal produce is used, the menu frequently changes depending on availability.
In keeping with the historical ambience of the castle, the menu offers traditional local cuisine. There is also a tasting menu, which comprises an incredible selection of dishes for you to sample, all using organic produce. Guests can enjoy these exquisite regional flavours with a glass of wine, while taking in beautiful views of the vineyard and winding River Po.
