Tulum is a beautiful spot, and the Azulik maximises on this spectacular setting. If you’re willing to sacrifice big brand amenities, put up no electric lights in the bedrooms and survive without AC, this is a special place to stay. Set right on a stunning (clothing optional) beach, backed by jungle, you’ll wake up to the coveted sound of waves gently breaking on the shore below.
Cabanas are rather romantically designed with loungers, outdoor baths and suspended seats that look out over the ocean. Adult-only, this is the place to be a smug couple, put your phones away and join in on the eco vibe. You can instagram it when you’re back at the office.
Please note that this is an adults-only property, and therefore is not suitable for those under 21.
There are three restaurants at Azulik; Kin Toh offers a more fine-dining experience in a structure build on stilts, 12m above the jungle. Cenote Bar is set in Azulik's herb garden and serves breakfast and lunch with a focus on veganism. The beach bar serves cocktails and light snacks along with a Thai menu in a relaxed barefoot setting.
The cabanas at Azulik are built from wood with no two the same. All are pretty open to the elements offering jungle or sea views with no electric light or televisions.
The Maya spa offers a full range of massages and treatments incorporating traditional Mayan therapeutic methods.
There is a beautiful yoga and meditation dome with group and private classes available.
The hotel is set on a secluded beach in the Tulum National Park. The centre of Tulum and the Mayan ruins are a 10-minute drive away (5km). Azulik have a number of guides they work with to introduce their guests to lesser-known natural and cultural attactions in the area.
