Built by the Marcello family this 16th-century villa still belongs to Count Vettor Marcello, a member of Venetian nobility. Situated between Padua, Treviso and Venice Ca' Marcello is home to the Marcello family who have opened up the Barchessa Apartment in the left wing of the villa. Up to eight guests can come and stay and enjoy this refined, air-conditioned self-catering apartment which is fully-equipped and has its own pool, garden and BBQ.
It is a privilege and unique experience to be able to stay in one of Veneto's most prestigious villas and even rarer still that such a magnificent villa is still in the same family after hundreds of years.
Not far from the main building and the apartment there is a garden reserved for guests only, which hides a 9m swimming pool surrounded by a pretty garden of roses, hydrangeas and oleanders. Guests can also take advantage of the BBQ, dining area, deck chairs and changing room with pool towels. The children can run around on the football field which is inside the park and guests also have the use of three mountain bikes during their stay. The villa itself is surrounded by 18 acres of private parkland filled with ancient trees and plants.
There are plenty of cultural sites and cities to visit within easy reach of Ca'Marcello and the Marcello family are happy to help with any suggestions or itineraries. Venice is only 35 minutes away and makes the perfect day out, and nearby Asolo and Bassano, two charming medieval towns, were favourites of Ernest Hemingway. For some local wine tasting and shopping head to Treviso, 20 minutes away, a medieval town rich in ancient buildings, history and culture. Padua is a little further (40 minutes) but is home to Giotto's frescoes and the Basilica del Santo and so an absolute 'must' during your stay. Of course a stay wouldn't be the same without the privilege of a private tour of the villa itself given by the owner, and finished off by an aperitivo with the owner and his family.
For the active, there is tennis, golf and horse riding nearby and the park is the perfect place for an early morning jog.
Guests can cook for themselves in the fully-equipped kitchen or the owners can arrange for a private chef to serve lunch or dinner in the dining room or garden.
