Luxury hotel Le Grand Bellevue can be found in Gstaad, a veritable winter wonderland in the Bernese Oberland region of the Swiss Alps. The town is surrounded by hundreds of kilometres of all-level ski slopes, pistes and cross-country trails, and is a favourite destination among royalty and celebrities. But this charming hotel is not just a place to visit during the colder months: during summertime the scenery is just as wonderful, and there's an array to do for all ages.
If you're a foodie, you'll love the choice of restaurants at Le Grand Bellevue: there's something for everyone including handcrafted sushi, Afternoon Tea, and fine dining at Leonard's. Looking for something casual? Head to the inviting bar for a hot chocolate or warm yourself in front of the fire in the lounge. And fondue enthusiasts should head to log cabin Le Petit Chalet where traditional Swiss fare reigns supreme.
The 57 light-filled bedrooms include turreted tower rooms, alpine suites, rustic hideaways, and split-level spaces all featuring fluffy bathrobes and a complimentary minibar. Inter-connecting rooms are available on request, as are baby cots and additional beds. And the little ones won't feel left out: mini versions of bathrobes and slippers will be waiting for them. Choose duplex Suite Panorama, and as you may hope from the name, be greeted by glorious vistas – all the way to Glacier 3000 in fact. Go for Etoile and be wowed by a glass-roofed bathroom.
With more than 130 miles of ski routes, this is a top Alpine spot for hitting the slopes. But not only that, in warmer months there's a host of things to do as well, ranging from wild swimming and visiting Lake Lauenen to checking out Glacier 3000 (also excellent for experienced skiers and boarders in wintertime).
