Falmouth’s 4-star St Michaels Resort is the ultimate coastal haven for anyone wishing to escape for a while. The beachside hotel offers comfortable accommodation in 84 modern guest rooms, an on-site 2 AA rosette restaurant, top spa facilities, a health club, and sub-tropical gardens with exceptional ocean views. Its prime seafront location provides direct access to Blue Flag status Gyllyngvase beach.
The lounge is the ideal spot place to begin the evening – sip on signature craft cocktails perched at the bar, or take a seat in The Locker, a more casual setting.
Nautical bedrooms are the order of the day, with blue, white and wood being the predominant theme. Stylish and modern, options range from cosy or family to bay view or terrace. Four-legged friends are allowed in some rooms. Whichever you go for, expect Elemis toiletries, comfy beds, and pocket-sprung mattresses.
With Gyllyngvase beach directly on the doorstep, you don’t have to venture too far to enjoy the best of Cornwall’s outdoor activities, such as sailing, paddle boarding, windsurfing, and other water-based sports. The on-site health club is equipped with a large gym boasting high-quality cardio and weight training equipment, as well as a 17-metre pool, and a sauna, while the wellness centre has dedicated fitness studios, a relaxation area, and a sun terrace. And the spa's relaxing treatment rooms are the place for a variety of pampering and rejuvenating experiences.
How to get there
From London, the quickest way is via the M5, M4 and A30. However, we advise you always check the traffic beforehand as the route does get busy over the summer, especially on a Friday.
Alternatively, why not try the scenic A303: only a fraction slower than the motorway when there's no traffic. The A303 is considered one of the most beautiful roads in the south and includes the most spectacular view of Stonehenge. With more places to stop and little towns to explore, your journey down to the resort will be one to remember.
If you're travelling from further up north in the UK, for example from Birmingham, Leeds, or Newcastle, the motorways are your best option. The quickest routes are via the M1, M5 and the A30. Not to worry though as you will not be missing too many views because, once you join the A30, the tarmac lanes are swapped for miles of fields, and with the improvements made to the A30, travelling to St Michaels could not be easier.
Travel past more of the British countryside as you make your way down the A30 to Truro, then follow signs to Falmouth, joining the A39. As you approach Falmouth, follow the signs for the beaches. As you come down Cliff Road, opposite Gylly beach, you will see the St Michaels sails on your left. Follow signs to the private car park which is free of charge for residents and where there are 60 unreserved spaces.
Falmouth Train Station is a 10-minute walk away.
The nearest airport is Cornwall Airport Newquay (approximately a 50-minute drive, 48 kilometres). From the airport, travel by bus, taxi or hire a car.
Yes, we have dog friendly rooms available varying in types, with prices from £12.50 per dog per night.
