Rooms are split over the main château and the 'Bastide' (a converted outbuilding set around 25m away). All are sumptuously decorated and each individually designed, with some pricier options featuring roll top baths, while others sporting double doors that open onto private terraces.
If you’re on the hunt for an authentic French Château, you’ve just found it. Built in the 16th-century, this castle hotel has been beautifully restored and renovated with a focus on retaining the character of the building, so you’ll be feeling like royalty in no time. Despite its characterful ambience, the owners, Robin and Dominique, have ensured that this a very comfortable place to stay indeed. Sucker for views? Surrounded by lush parkland, look out over the stunning countryside of La Drôme. On clear days you can even see the Alps in the distance.
Located in a rural position in La Drôme we'd definitely recommend having a car to get here and around with easy access to ancient villages like Grignan and Mirmande. Outdoorsy types will also find much to entertain: the countryside is ideal for cycling, walking, horse riding and golf. There are also wonderful lavender farms and vineyards close by.
In the summer months, cool off in the seasonal outdoor pool, or else rent an electric bike and explore the thriving surroundings. There are even a collection of vintage cars available upon request! If you fancy learning some new culinary techniques, budding chefs can try their hand at cooking lessons, courtesy of the hotel chef.
Of course, after all that activity, a little pampering is well-deserve: pop to the spa an invigorating massage or beauty treatment. For recommendations on what to do and see in the area, Robin and Dominique are charming and happy to help in anyway they can.
Dinner at Château Les Oliviers de Salettes is not to be missed. Tuck into traditional French cuisine, including local specialties such as truffle, game, cheese and Côtes du Rhone wines. A delicious breakfast is also served in the mornings. Cookery lessons are available with the chef if you feel the need to take some home with you.
