Why so chic?
Why travel experts chose this hotel19th-century eleganceCentral locationOne of the most romantic hotels in LondonChic Treats
Only when you book with ChicWe certainly love a property with an intriguing history here at Chic Retreats, and the 19th-century Gore is no exception: the hotel originally flung open its doors to house visitors to Prince Albert’s famed Great Exhibition, showing off British hospitality at its finest.
It continues in the same vein today, with excellent staff and jaw-droppingly grand décor. Deep red fabrics, antique pieces and elegant period furnishings can be seen throughout, but perhaps the most grandiose of all is the lounge area – complete with ornately framed portraits of Queen Victoria and an intricately carved fireplace.
The Gore Hotel is one of the most romantic boutique hotels in London. Just a hop and skip from the Royal Albert Hall in Kensington, it also boasts one of the best locations, opposite the Queen's Gate of Hyde Park.
Dining
- Bar 190 is one of the best places to meet and drink in central London. Cocktails, champagne, wines and a great selection of spirits and beers can be enjoyed and it is the perfect place to meet for pre-show drinks before walking to (or from) the Royal Albert Hall. The wide range of signature cocktails, made with home infused spirits and created by the Gore's very own creative bartenders, will keep you happy throughout the evening! Voted one of the best hotel bars in London 2011 by Square Meal Guide, it is not to be missed.
- 190 Queen's Gate has a well-earned reputation throughout London for its informal atmosphere, fine dining and lively, all-day restaurant. Guests enjoy fantastic service and excellent food created from the best ingredients available, and the extensive wine list is hand picked and includes rare and fine wines. 190 Queen's Gate is the ideal partner to events at Royal Albert hall with pre or post theatre dining menus available.
Accommodation
- The Gore Hotel is unique in style and character and the 50 rooms and suites are often described as some of the loveliest in London. Antique furniture, period pictures and hand carved beds add to the romantic feel and gothic backdrop of the rooms which range in size from Queen and Wonderful Doubles through Luxury Doubles and Deluxe Rooms, to the sumptuous Tudor Room which is one of kind in London with its oak four-poster bed, a 15th-century Minstrels' Gallery, high oak-beamed ceilings, Portland stone fireplace, candelabras and rich furnishings, named by many as the most romantic hotel room in London.
- For a slightly more modest affair why not book the Judy Garland room, yes she did stay here and liked to call herself a resident, so much so that she had her own gilt wood bed flown over from America to The Gore and it is still here today. The double rooms are smaller but very enchanting and have a Queen-size carved wooden bed.
- Each room features a TV and DVD player as well as only the very best linen, dressing gowns and pillows from Frette. Fresh and colourful fruit will be waiting for you in your room as well as a charger to fit every phone.
