If you’re after a slice of authentic, rural Sicilian hospitality then Masseria Cianciò may be just the place for you. Located 7km inland from the southern Sicilian port town of Pozzallo, you get the best of both worlds here – close to the beaches and culture but far enough away from the hustle and bustle to escape from it all.
This is a very calming place indeed – rolling hills, dry stone walls, olive trees and a very inviting swimming pool laying waiting for you to dip into. The eight rooms are housed in lovely converted farm buildings, set around a small central courtyard area.
Family-run, the service here is incredibly warm and personal. The property is child-friendly and pets are welcome (on request and extra charge may apply).
A delicious homemade breakfast is served each morning and is included in most room rates. There is a bar and whilst there is no restaurant picnic baskets and light snacks can be arranged on request.
The vibe across the eight rooms is rustic chic – whitewashed stone walls, exposed beams, quirky vintage furnishings and less of a focus on fancy mod-cons.
There are a range of room types available – from the Standard Double right up to a two-bedroom apartment which has it's own basic kitchen area and living room – ideal if you are travelling as a family.
There is a lovely, inviting swimming pool (open in the summer months) and a small library – perfect to keep you in reading fodder for your stay.
Massages are available on request, carried out under the carob tree out in the garden. There are some wonderful cookery classes held at the hotel, with lessons on some of the region's traditional recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation.
Surrounded by countryside there is some great hiking to be done whilst the nearest beaches are around a 15-minute drive away. The hotel can assist with booking local tours and onward travel connections.
