Dating back to the 18th-century, this majestic manor house plays host to a resplendent boutique hotel. The elegance of the place is evident from the moment you step into the sumptuous lobby, where the frescoed ceiling shelters polished antiques and rich fabrics below.
The sixteen rooms tell a different story, boasting a simpler - but no less graceful - décor. Here the characterful arched ceilings creating an almost cave-like atmosphere, set off splendidly with rustic antiques and warm lighting.
Located up a fairly steep hill, Zannos Melathron offers some absolutely breathtaking views out over Santorini from its rooftop and terraces.
As dinner time approaches, head to the hotel’s fine dining restaurant which serves traditional Greek fare using produce sourced from the island. Fancy your meal with a tipple? The estate makes its own wines from grapes grown in their vineyards.
For something more relaxed, head to the bar for a handcrafted cocktail or light fare.
Breakfast is served in the mornings and is included in most room rates (see rate detail below).
The sixteen rooms at Zannos Melathron have all been individually designed, with no two the same. That being said, all are cosy retreats after a day’s adventures, with anything from cave-like arched ceilings and warm lighting, to two-tiered rooms and antique furnishings. Beds are kitted out with premium mattresses and crisp bedding. Some of the pricier options even come with their own hot tub. It’s worth noting that some of the cheaper rooms can come up a little snug, so if you like room to stretch out, we recommend upgrading.
Life takes place at a leisurely pace here; swim a length or two in the rooftop pool, lounge in the sun on one of the poolside deck chairs, or book in for a relaxing massage in the spa, which also has a Jacuzzi and sauna to unwind in.
Beyond the hotel walls, there is much to intrigue. Pyrgos village is just a short drive away and is certainly worth a visit, complete with its awe-inspiring castle and grand houses. There are a bevy of wineries nearby too - perfect for a bit of wine tasting or an afternoon tipple.
