Elephant Pepper Camp is a small, exclusive and secluded Chic Retreat hidden away in a quiet grove of elephant pepper trees in the Northern Mara, Kenya. This boutique camp has only 10 luxury tents and offers its guests the ultimate authentic bush safari. No generators, no permanent structures, no harsh modern lights just the sights and sounds of the African bush. This Chic Retreat is perfectly placed to explore the globally famous Masai Mara ecosystem, which is renowned for its outstanding game viewing and exceptional populations of lion, leopard and cheetahs. The Elephant Pepper Camp prides itself on its personal and friendly atmosphere and there is nothing more magical than the sight of the hurricane lamps flickering at camp as one returns home after an exhilarating day on safari and then being meet by the friendly smiling staff, a roaring camp fire and a well earned aperitif. Elephant Pepper Camp is situated in a location higher than 4000ft altitude and for this reason is considered malaria free.
Elephant Pepper Camp sits in a privately managed conservancy in the core of the Masai Mara ecosystem. Game-driving is restricted to those vehicles belonging to lodges within the conservancy, so Elephant Pepper guests have this outstanding part of the Mara almost to themselves. The Elephant Pepper Camp guides are based in camp and know their backyard intimately. All the guides are Bronze or Silver level Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association certified, and some of the guides have guided in this area for 20 years. The wildlife is abundant and lions, leopard, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, hyenas, zebra, giraffe, topi, impala and black rhinoceros all make their home in the Mara. The camp is also well situated to see the great migration when thousands of zebra and wildebeest come from the arid Serengeti plains in the north to look for fresh grazing in the fertile Mara eco-system. Evening game drives, bush walks and cultural visits to the local Masai homesteads can also be enjoyed by the guests.
Dining at Elephant Pepper Camp is a relaxed and communal affair. Meals are served in the beautifully decorated mess tent where guests enjoy the fabulous Italian recipes that have been passed down from the owner Stefano Chelis mother and perfected for the safari camp over the years. Elephant Pepper Camps cuisine includes a mouth-watering combination of homemade pastas, traditional Italian recipes such as Melanzane Parmigiana and Osso Bucco, and fresh organic salads. Although if pasta isnt your thing there are plenty of other options. Romantic private dinners can also be arranged for special occasions. Special diets can be easily catered for, although prior notice is required to give the camp managers ample time to make the necessary preparations.
