Majestic castle hotel
Only when you book with Chic
If you’re on the hunt for an authentic French château, you’ve just found it. Built in the 16th-century, this castle hotel has been beautifully restored and renovated with a focus on retaining the character of the building. Despite its characterful ambience, owners Robin and Dominique have ensured that this a very comfortable place to stay indeed.
Sucker for views? Surrounded by 31 hectares of lush parkland, the property looks out over the rolling countryside of La Drôme. On clear days you can even see the Alps in the distance.
Dinner at Château Les Oliviers de Salettes is not to be missed: tuck into seasonal French cuisine, either out on the terrace or in the vaulted dining room. A delicious breakfast is also served in the mornings. And cookery lessons are available with the chef if you'd like to take home some tips.
Rooms are split over the main château and the 'Bastide' (a converted outbuilding set around 25 metres away). All are individually designed, with some featuring roll top baths or exposed stone walls, and others sporting double doors that open out to private terraces.
Located in a rural position in La Drôme, we'd recommend having a car to get around and visit ancient villages such as Grignan and Mirmande. Outdoorsy types will find much to entertain: the countryside is ideal for cycling, walking, horse riding, and golf. There are also wonderful lavender farms and vineyards close by. In the summer months, cool off in one of the two outdoor pools. And if you fancy a little pampering, pop to the spa for a massage or beauty treatment.
For recommendations on what to do and see in the area, charming Robin and Dominique are happy to help in any way they can.
