If you’re looking for some R&R in southern France, Hôtel du Castellet might just be the one for you. Set in the heart of Provence and boasting expansive gardens, a sparkling indoor and outpool, an impressive spa, 6-hole golf course and 3 Michelin-starred restaurant on site - there’s more than enough to entertain at this luxury Chic Retreat.
Located right next door to the world-famous Circuit Paul Ricard, your pool time might be accompanied by a backing track of revving engines - perfect for the motorsport lovers amongst us but worth bearing in mind during event periods for those less enamoured.
Foodies will love the dining experience at Hôtel du Castellet with the impressive 3 Michelin-starred Christophe Bacquié Restaurant along with the (slightly) lower-key Le San Félice on site. It’s worth noting that there is a dress code at both (no shorts allowed) and mobile phones are not allowed.
Serving an array of creative and mouthwatering dishes with a focus on only the best seasonal, local produce - Christophe Bacquié Restaurant is a destination in itself. With an ever-changing tasting menu served in the elegant dining room or a private dining room, if you’d prefer (open for lunch Friday - Sunday and dinner Wednesday - Saturday, we’d recommend booking in advance).
Le San Félice offers a more bistro-style menu in a light-filled room, overlooking the park. There is also an inviting bar with a great cocktail menu and cakes available at tea-time.
Set across the main building and a couple of villas nearby, the 42 rooms and suites are each individually designed to charming effect with each step up offering a bit more space than the last.
Activities abound at this luxury retreat. If you’re here to relax - enjoy over 700m² of spa space with an indoor pool, hammam and salt cave, along with a range of massages and treatments that will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
The outdoor pool beckons for a cooling dip in the summer months and there are tennis courts, a boules pitch and a mountain bike trail in the park with three levels of difficulty - beginner, aficionado and expert - and bikes available to hire.
Keen golfers will enjoy the compact 6-hole golf course licensed by the French Golf Federation, and there is a PGA professional on hand all year round. The par 3 holes range between 85m and 95m in length with some very difficult greens.
If you fancy exploring nearby - the pretty towns of Le Castellet and La Cadière d’Azur are both around a 20-minute drive away with Cassis and its famous calanques more like 35-minutes.
