Herdade da Rocha is the first boutique hotel in Portugal to be dedicated to olive trees, olives, and olive oil, 'oliveira'. The area of Alto Alentejo is home to this unique, intimate hotel which is, unsurprisingly, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards.
Here you can immerse yourself in the estate's production of distinct olive oil and wines, as well as tasting the end product either on its own or complemented by delicious regional dishes.
Herdade da Rocha is located in Crato, 29 km from Marvão. Free private parking is available to all guests. Small pets accepted by prior arrangement and at extra cost.
The 8 air-conditioned en-suite rooms & suites all benefit from flat screen TVs and complimentary Wifi and some have a terrace and/or balcony. Children are welcome; Rollaway/extra beds are available for €20 per night and cots are free.
The garden at Herdade da Rocha has a seasonally-opened pool with a terrace for sunbathing and you can hop on a complimentary bike to explore the area.
Wine and olive oil tasting is right on your doorstep, so you'd be mad not to indulge.
At Herdade da Rocha, the enology team produces fresher wines with more mineral characteristics that are usually found in the common Alentejo wines. Herdade da Rocha launched the first harvest in 2012, bottling a limited series of 1350 bottles. In 2013, the wines Couto Saramago Red Wine and Couto Saramago Seleção were produced and 2016 marked the launch of white and rosé wines.
Located near Crato, this little gem 15 minutes away by car from Flor da Rosa Convent, Praca do Municipio and Crato Castle. Portalegre Cathedral and Portalegre Castle are less than half an hour away.
Free parking is available.
