If you’re after a little old world Parisian glamour on your trip to the City of Lights, then you’ve come to the right place. Set in the elegant and exclusive 16th arrondissement, it’s all about experience at Saint James - think tranquil gardens, a Michelin-starred restaurant and inviting spa on site, not to mention the smart Saint James Club and unfailingly charming staff.
Designed by Bambi Sloan, the grand façade gives way to deliciously opulent interiors that are almost theatrical in style. A spectacular chandelier hangs resplendent above the lobby, whilst the sweeping red carpet-lined staircase draws you dramatically upstairs. Where the garden was once a hot-air balloon field, enjoy nods to the site’s history with balloon emblazoned wallpapers and Montgolfier pergolas on the terrace.
A delicious breakfast is served every morning with a lavish brunch each Sunday that is popular with guests and locals alike.
Led by chef Jean-Luc Rocha, the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant offers fine dining in a refined and romantic setting. Be sure to call upon the sommelier’s assistance to select a wonderfully paired wine.
After dinner, head for a night cap in the atmospheric Library Bar where handcrafted cocktails and great conversation flow freely.
The 49 rooms are each individually designed, though all are a study in extravagance with luxurious patterned wallpapers, rich fabrics and a blend of antique and more contemporary furnishings. There are also a couple of Pavillon available which sit separately to the main building and offer even more privacy.
The on-site spa offers two Turkish baths along with a range of massages and Guerlain treatments in a boudoir-style setting. There is also a gym with personal trainers available to help you with your work out.
Less obvious than the more central tourist spots - this Chic Retreat offers an opportunity to explore the wealthy residential neighbourhood of the 16ème with its wonderful architecture and the picturesque Bois de Boulogne a 5-minute walk away (on the other side of the Périphérique). The Clefs d’Or concierges are on hand to help guide your wanderings and there’s plenty of public transport close by with the Champs-Elysées just a few metro stops away.
