Only when you book with Chic
Set on the site of a former 17th century convent there’s little trace of this building’s previous pious purpose with a decidedly quirky and contemporary boutique hotel now housed within.
Designed by the world-renowned fashion designer Christian Lacroix this is a stylish spot indeed and, inspired by its surroundings, there are themes from the neighbourhood’s history threaded throughout. With each floor dedicated to a different theme – the styles range from antique and traditional, reflecting the area’s longstanding cabinetmakers, to fifties vibes inspired by the nearby legendary dance hall, Balajo.
The staff here are very charming and happily operate as a concierge throughout your stay – helping with restaurant bookings, tours, transfers and more – making this a great spot if you’re looking for the full Parisian chic experience.
A continental breakfast is served down by the lounge, or can be brought up to your room on request. There is also an honesty bar with hot and cold drinks along with pastries available in the afternoon and evening.
Whilst there is no restaurant on site, you are spoilt for choice nearby, with plenty of bars, restaurants and brasseries on your doorstep.
Unsurprisingly, the 38 rooms are eclectic – with no two options the same, but all boast comfy beds and stylish bathrooms with large walk-in showers, fun tile-work and vintage sinks.
Like the rest of Paris, rooms do come up cosy so opt for a Superior for a bit more space or even a Suite, most of which come with sofa beds – perfect if you’re travelling with the little ones.
Within the hotel there is a small gym and a sauna, perfect after a long day's sightseeing.
Set in the Bastille neighbourhood in the 11th arrondissement, there’s plenty to do, see and eat within easy walking distance of the hotel. If it’s shopping that tickles your fancy, popular homeware stores Merci and Le Marais are a 15/20-minute walk away. There are also good public transport connections if you wish to explore further afield.
