Quirky and colourful décor
Set in the vibrant Latin Quarter
Only when you book with Chic
Set opposite Paris’ most famous university, Design Sorbonne has a modern Marie Antoinette feel. The grand wallpapers, antique pieces and soft furnishings are set to some seriously dramatic colour schemes – think bright greens and neon pinks. With a photo exhibition from a different local artist on each floor and a mural that winds up the staircase, this city bolthole is both quirky and lavish.
But never fear, you still get that charming and authentic Parisian feel. The hotel is nestled in the 5th arrondissement, right in the heart of the lively Latin Quarter, and just a short walk from many of the city’s most famous sights.
A continental breakfast is served each morning.
The staggering number of local restaurants nearby more than make up for the lack of restaurant at the hotel. Two particularly good finds only a 10-minute walk away are L’Avant Comptoir, a wine bar that offers affordable tapas-style dishes with a focus on fish and charcuterie, and Semilla, a local haunt serving unpretentious, truly Parisian dishes.
The vibrant rooms range from Classic to Top Floor – bedrooms in the latter category boasts views over the rooftops and to the Pantheon.
Just a 5-minute stroll will have you at many must-see sights such as the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Pantheon. Slightly further but still walkable are Notre Dame (15minutes) and Musée d’Orsay (30 minutes).
While you’re there be sure to check out the Shakespeare & Co. bookshop, a literary refuge for many a famous writer in the past, and the house that first published James Joyce’s Ulysses. Just an 8-minute stroll from the hotel too.
