With stunning sea views, nestled within acres of neatly manicured gardens, Almyra is a stylishly chic luxury hotel in Paphos, Cyprus. Although it is slightly larger than some of our other properties, the warmly attentive staff and private pockets of tranquility throughout will convince you you’re staying in a hotel half the size while enjoying the excellent facilities on offer. We love the contemporary, minimalist décor, a real treat for design-lovers, and the hotel regularly hosts exhibitions of local and international artists in its chic open-plan lobby.
You’ll be seriously impressed by what’s on offer at Almyra. There are four pools, one of which is exclusively adult-only so you’ll be sure not to be disturbed as you kick back and unwind. If you’re in need of a spot of pampering, you can enjoy organic treatments at the Almyraspa, overlooking the sun-dappled waters of the Mediterranean.
Almyra is a great choice for families who don’t want to compromise on luxury. Parents can order children’s essentials online in advance and your little ones will be fully taken care of at the creche and kids’ club, while the restaurants offer a comprehensive children’s menu. There is also an indoor playroom as well as an outdoor adventure space.
We were founded forty years ago by my father, the late Alecos Michaelides. Each of our three hotels is much-loved and entirely distinctive in their own way - with its sleek and contemporary design Almyra is perfect for modern, travel-savvy guests. The Eauzone spa and pool area is my favourite pace in the hotel and is a world on its own. Enjoying the spectacular sunsets overlooking the castle with a quintessential Cypriot sundowner in hand is a gift from god!
Sunbathe in the manicured gardens, or splash into one of the hotel’s four pools during the sultry summer months. The main pool is nestled in the shade of gnarled olive trees; lined with black-slate, it is particularly striking. The little ones will enjoy the shallow freshwater splash pool, while those looking for a spot of peace and quiet can head to the stunning infinity pool in the adult-only spa area; there’s an indoor pool as well should you fancy a dip during the chillier months. Pamper yourself at the Almyraspa, a sun-lit haven where organic and sea-based therapies and treatments are given against the backdrop of the Mediterranean.
Located in Paphos, Almyra is perfectly placed for those looking to explore the mystery and beauty of Cyprus. Take a boat trip to the Blue Lagoon, one of the most charming beaches on the island, or head to St George’s Island for its crystal-clear waters and spectacular diving spots. Paphos is a haven for history buffs, and if you’re interested in the ancient world you’ll want to make time to visit the Tombs of the Kings, a UNESCO-listed necropolis dating back to the 4th century BCE.
A number of restaurants will ensure that everyone is well-catered for during your stay. Notios (open from March to December) serves an exciting blend of fresh Mediterranean flavours and ingredients with the purity and technical excellence of Japanese cuisine. Mosaics, Almyra’s signature restaurant, serves a seasonal menu of European classics and Asian specialities; ask for an al fresco table for a particularly romantic meal. If you’re after something a little more traditional, the sea-front taverna Ouzeri serves authentic Cypriot fare, always accompanied by a glass of ouzo.
Escape the children and head to the poolside haven of Eauzone, which serves spa snacks and healthy nibbles from its bright and airy dining room. The adjacent terrace-bar serves a range of local beers and wines, as well as the traditional Cypriot sundowner of Mastiha liqueur, fresh basil and sparkling lemonade. Enjoy a chilled glass as you watch the sunset over the sea.
Children's menus are available at all of Almyra's restaurants apart from the adult-only Eauzone at Almyraspa. What we loved...
It’s very hard to pick but, if I absolutely have to, it would be the peaceful adult-only pool (sorry, kids) near the spa. The sun beds are big and super comfy and the infinity pool is so inviting. It’s the perfect spot to relax and top up your tan. There’s also a bar right next to it which serves some divine cocktails (the rose mojito is particularly good) – I found my own little slice of paradise right here.
