an authentic Apulian experience in stylish surroundings
Masseria Salinola, in 'The White City' Ostuni, Puglia, was once an old salt warehouse. This 16h-century farmhouse has now been transformed into a rustic, yet incredibly stylish boutique hotel where you can enjoy warm hospitality from the owners and an authentic Apulian experience. Situated between the Trulli Valley and Salento, beneath the vast blue skies of Puglia, this white washed Chic Retreat is surrounded by lemon trees and olive groves. Off the beaten path, Masseria Salinola is a place where memories are made.
Take a dip in Masseria Salinola's pool or Jacuzzi, let the sun kiss your cheeks, hop on one of the mountain bikes and explore the surrounding area or challenge the children to a game of table tennis. Come and stay during the winter months and take part in the olive harvesting or book a cooking course at any time of the year. Wander around Ostuni with its uniform lime-washed buildings and wind your way up through the streets to the top to the Archbishop's palace and the 15th-century Concattedrale with its symmetrical facade and rose window. Marvel at the 360 degree views across the countryside and Adriatic sea before meandering down and enjoying lunch in one of the restaurants. Ostuni is the place to be on the 15th August when the Sagra dei Vecchi Tempi (festival of old times) arrives in town, giving visitors the chance to taste some of the region's most traditional and loved dishes. Within a 15 minute drive there are some of Puglia's loveliest and cleanest beaches (no less than 5 Blue Flags won in the past couple of years).
Masseria Salinola harvests its ancient olive groves to make some of the best first cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil in Puglia. The fruit and vegetables are home grown on the farm and the authentic and colourful dishes have been praised in many Italian guide books. If heading out to explore Ostuni try La Taverna della Gelosia, a romantic restaurant with a Jasmine-filled terrace, which serves traditional dishes from the area.

Thick stone walls and floors, lime washed walls and high domed ceilings are just some of the traditional features of the rooms and apartments at Masseria Salinola. Because the rooms are all original, they vary in shape and size, each with their own charm and character. Some of the rooms are in the main building of the masseria itself whilst others are in a nearby buliding, each with their own entrance. Choose from the Classic and Superior Rooms which feature wrought iton beds and antique furniture, or the Romantic Suite which is perfect for a couple looking for privacy or a small family. The Family Apartments have 2-3 beds and are a good choice for families or the Two Room Apartments which have a living room and sleep up to 5 people. The apartments have their own kitchenette and all of the rooms have air-conditioning, LCD TV, mini bar and complimentary WiFi. We love the whist superior rooms, previously old farm shelters and in particular Suite Camino which has its own working fire place.
