Every bit as stylish and vibrant as its surroundings, The Laslett Hotel is a boutique hotel in the Notting Hill neighbourhood. Five Grade II listed Victorian townhouses have been knocked through to accommodate 51 bedrooms and suites, each one inspired by local culture and characters. Walls are painted in a soft dove grey and adorned with antique pieces and works by London artists from Barbara Hulanicki to Laurence Dunmore. Downstairs you’ll find a curated library, along with a shop showcasing the hotel's collaborations with creatives. Just a stone’s throw from Portobello Road, The Laslett is the ideal London bolthole.
The Henderson Bar, named after Russell Henderson, one of the founding fathers of the Notting Hill Carnival, serves simple and seasonal British dishes throughout the day, making it the perfect spot for lunch or dinner. In the afternoon, the hotel lays on an excellent Afternoon Tea which can be taken in the bar or out on the terrace during the summer months. After dark, The Henderson transforms into a buzzing cocktail bar serving a range of classic and bespoke drinks inspired by the local area; don’t miss the Henderson Rum Punch, the favourite drink of the great man himself.
All of the rooms are similarly styled, with soothing tones and wide windows flooding the space with natural light. Colourful local artworks and collections of vintage Penguin books lend each room an individual identity. Bathrooms are elegantly tiled, and feature Neal’s Yard toiletries.
Relax on the comfortable sofas in the downstairs lounge and peruse the pages of one of the many art and fashion books on the shelves. If you feel inspired by the décor, pick up something at the curated shop which includes an ever-changing roster of local artists, fashion designers and jewellers.
The hotel sits in vibrant Notting Hill, famed for its lively carnival and freewheeling spirit. Take a stroll along Golborne Road, where you can pick up incredible vintage curios at boutiques such as Les Couilles du Chien. Portobello Road is home to a sprawling street market; wander through while listening to the entertaining calls of the costermongers, many of whom are well-known local characters. For a date with a difference, duck into the Electric Cinema: one of London’s oldest, it's been fully updated for a unique and luxurious experience. Sink into a comfortable leather armchair, or for a special treat, book one of the front row beds.
