There are ten rooms to choose from at Eichardt’s, each of which has been sumptuously decorated with sleek décor and modern furnishings. The broody colour palette prevails throughout, but some rooms also feature exposed brick, patterned wallpapers and antiques. Beds are kitted out with premium bedding, while bathrooms come with the added treat of designer toiletries.
Modern and sleek, this ten-room boutique hotel sits right on the waterfront overlooking Lake Whakatipu. The lakeside gem traces its origins back to the 19th-century, where the gold mines brought in a flood of tourists and businessmen looking to make their fortune.
Today, the hotel has been revamped to recall the hotel’s history whilst placing itself firmly in the 21st-century. Designed by Virginia Fisher, interiors blend elegant Victorian styles with stylish contemporary décor - from the opulent furnishings in the lounge, to the quirky clocks on the staircase.
Eichardt’s Private Hotel is situated in the very heart of Queenstown, which has become an international destination for those seeking outdoor adventures within easy reach of their everyday comforts. There are plenty of nearby activities to choose from including skiing, hiking in world-heritage parks and golfing on internationally acclaimed courses, not to mention more daring opportunities such as parachuting and jet boating.
The staff are wonderful and more than happy to advise you on the best things to see and do.
The Grille Restaurant serves a brasserie-style menu within a stylish, exposed brick setting. Despite the international choice of dishes, all meals are prepared using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients where possible.
As you can expect from a hotel down under, the wine here is not to be missed. The bar is stocked with plenty of excellent South Island bottles in addition to a tantalising array of handcrafted cocktails.
A good breakfast is served in the mornings and is included in most room rates (see rate detail below).
