Run by the charming and knowledgeable Nina Basset, Spot in the Woods offers an inviting resting place on a trip to the famous New Forest. The contemporary yet homely rooms at this boutique B&B will not leave you wanting and the soon to open kitchen café will serve a delicious and original menu in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
What makes this chic retreat so special, however, is the service – Nina's team go above and beyond to ensure you have a good stay and will have you feeling like family in no time. Pet-friendly and wheelchair accessible rooms are available.
The kitchen café serves an impressive all-day menu from 8 am to 5 pm each day, offering a laid-back and lovely setting for breakfast, lunch or just a snack. There's a wide choice for breakfast (which is served all day) including Full English, Severn & Wye smoked salmon on toast and Eggs Florentine.
For lunch, you might like a quick sandwich, wrap or flatbread or perhaps catch of the day with chips or burger. As well as a choice of soft drinks there a selection of wines, craft beers and champagne.
A ‘Spot of Tea in the Afternoon’ is available from 2 pm to 4.30pm for a set price of £14.50 per person, an absolute must during your stay.
There are just 11 rooms at Spot in the Woods, all individually styled in a classy contemporary style.
All rooms are en-suite with complimentary WiFi, air-conditioning, coffee machine serving Mozzo coffee and tea making facilities. Expect luxury beds, bed linen, duvets, pillows and bathrobes, laptop safe, flat screen TV with DVD / CD player, iron, hairdryer, deluge rain shower, and complimentary locally sourced, organic bath and body products. Dog-friendly and rooms with disabled access are available.
With a great location in the New Forest, Spot in the Woods is superbly placed for hiking trips, mountain biking, bird-watching and horse-riding. With the coast close by, there are some lovely beaches to visit with watersports such as windsurfing available and there are some good golf courses to choose from too. Red and fallow deer can be seen in the Otter Owl & Wildlife Park and there are plenty of gorgeous gardens close by. Also within easy reach are Southampton, Winchester, Lymington and Bournemouth, which have some great shops and historical places of interest, and there are a plethora of lovely little towns dotted around.Spot
in the Woods is much more than just a kitchen café and B&B…. it's a lifestyle experience and many of the lovely items you see in and around the house are available to buy. Local artists and designers are showcased here and there's an eclectic range of designers including Longbarn, Summerdown, Sandra Binney, Tinklertastic and Nomad Originals, as well as locally made jams and chutneys.
How to get there
Leave the M27 (West) at junction 2. Turn onto the Fawley Link Road A326. Pass the superstore roundabout then at next roundabout take 3rd exit A336 signed to Netley Marsh. After a few hundred yards, turn left at the White Horse Pub into Woodlands Road. The hotel is just over one mile on the left-hand side.
Ashurst New Forest train station is a 4-minute drive from the hotel (2.3km) or the larger Southampton station is a 15-minute drive away (12km)
Southampton Airport is a 20-minute drive from the hotel (20km)
Heathrow Airport is a 1-hour 10-minute drive from the hotel (110km)
