Hotel Solar Do Rosario is the perfect base to explore Ouro Preto. This lovely colonial building is as about as charming as they come, and will really get you in the historic frame of mind.
The décor is wonderfully old world, oriental rugs, antique furnishings and regal looking chairs will have you feeling nostalgic and just a little fancy. Rooms are comfortable, a little less ritzy than the lobby might suggest, but offer a good night’s sleep nonetheless. It’s the public areas that make this spot special – and you'll easily while away an afternoon equipped with nothing but a book by the pool.
The Lady of the Rosary restaurant offers rather a grand setting for breakfast, lunch and dinner along with an impressive wine cellar that you can also visit (by prior arrangement). The Scotch Bar is an inviting spot for a nightcap.
The 41 rooms are spread across the different wings of the building with views out over the street or into the interior garden (opt for the latter if you're a light sleeper as there can be a fair bit of street noise). The décor is simple and traditional with plenty of wooden furnishings.
The outdoor pool beckons for a cooling swim on hot days whilst the indoor pool with hot tub offers a good alternative in wet weather. There is also a small fitness area for all your work out needs.
Located in the centre of the historic colonial town of Ouro Preto, the hotel is well placed to explore with Antonio Dias Square a 10/15-minute walk away along with Museu da Inconfidência and Basílica Nossa Senhora do Pilar.
