With only eight rooms, the Hotel Hacienda is small, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in personality.
It’s still very centrally located – just a hop and a skip from the main square – despite feeling like you’re a world away. Traditional wooden four-poster beds with soft linens, walls coloured in Mexico’s hot pastels and a quiet, off-street setting make this a top pick for your trip to Mérida.
Staff are friendly and will happily help organise all the necessary day trips to nearby attractions. Better still, once you’re back at the hotel after a hard day’s sightseeing chances are it will be margarita o’clock, poolside.
A good breakfast is served each morning on the patio by the pool. Whilst there is no restaurant on site, there is a great little bar at the hotel offering light snacks and cocktails.
The eight bedrooms are each individually designed with traditional Mexican flair.
There is a small swimming pool set in the hotel's courtyard. Spa treatments and massages are also available on request.
Located in the old colonial area, Hotel Hacienda Mérida is well-placed to explore with Cathedral and Museo Regional de Antropología both a 10-minute walk away. Further afield, the Mayan ruins of Dzibilchaltun are a 30-minute drive out of town (21km).
