The Prince is a stylish affair, with design that could be straight out of Stockholm and views out over Port Phillip Bay.
There’s a much-needed outdoor area with cabana style day beds and the wonderful on-site spa is a destination in itself. The attached restaurant ‘Circa’ is well known, top chef Jake Nicholson serves up modern Aussie cuisine and it has earned two hats (Australian Michelin star equivalent).
The Prince is available for private hire and is a popular venue choice for weddings and parties.
A delicious, wholesome breakfast is served each morning.
The hotel's restaurant, Circa, is one of Melbourne's finest though there are plenty of others nearby if you fancy heading out. There is a small cocktail bar and also the main Prince Bar at the front of the hotel.
The 39 rooms have a sleek, minimalist feel with bright splashes of colour in the form of simple prints and patterned textiles. Whilst the cheaper rooms offer good value for the location, they do come up quite small, so we'd recommend upgrading for more space and a better view.
The Aurora Spa offers a range of massages and beauty treatments. There is a small indoor pool which opens out onto a lovely decked roof terrace overlooking Fitzroy Street and beyond (sometimes closed for private events).
A stay in St Kilda is a smart move if you’re visiting Melbourne in the heart of summer. It gets hot, seriously hot, and a quick dip in the ocean, or just lying very still on the beach is practically a necessity. Even in winter, there’s plenty to eat and drink along the shorefront which is a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
How to get there
Acland St/Fitzroy St tram station is a 1-minute walk from the hotel (less than 100m)
Melbourne Airport is a 35-minute drive from the airport (35km)
