At 119 rooms The Cullen is a sizeable boutique but it’s as much a gallery as it is a hotel, with original artworks (including the namesake Adam Cullen) adorning the walls everywhere you look and a distinctly Melbourne vibe throughout, with plenty of design risks at every turn.
What's more, you’re well-placed to explore – just a tram ride away from the centre of the city and opposite Prahran Market.
There is no restaurant run by the hotel itself, however, Gramercy Bistro just nearby serves up breakfast.
For lunch and dinner either stick at Gramercy for steaks, sandwiches and a great cocktail menu or head to Hutong, one of Melbourne's finest Chinese restaurants and dumpling bars.
Rooms at The Cullen come in a variety of shapes and sizes but all are contemporary and comfortable with a sleek and stylish décor. Be warned, it’s just frosted glass that separates bathrooms from the beds, so consider carefully if that’s a level of intimacy you’re yet to broach with your significant other. Otherwise, opt for a room with a balcony and take in some pretty great views of Australia’s coolest city.
There is a gym at the hotel which also offers yoga classes – perfect to unwind after a busy day's exploring. Bicycles and Smart Cars are available for hire and the pool at the sister Olsen hotel can be used on request.
Located in Prahran (pronounced piranne) one of Melbourne's trendiest suburbs, there is plenty of great shopping and exploring to be done nearby. If you're here on business the CBD is only a 5-minute taxi ride away.
