Villa Dinari is a luxury 8 room boutique hotel (or your own luxury villa) as close to paradise as you can find in Marrakech, Morocco. Designed by owners Heather and Abdellatif this vibrant Chic Retreat is an oasis of peace and luxury just 15 minutes from the Jmaa el Fna square, home to snake charmers, storytellers and henna artists. With sun shining most of the year round Villa Dinari is the perfect boutique hotel for those looking for luxury and excellent service with the atmosphere of a private home. Surrounded by more than two acres of landscaped gardens Villa Dinari is the perfect tonic after a day out in the souks of the Medina. During the hotter months it is difficult to resist days relaxing by the swimming pool and its well-stocked bar and the winter months are perfect for exploring the Atlas Mountains, playing a game of golf or shopping in the souks. The swimming pool is now heated and can be enjoyed all year around.
Whilst it looks like a tourist attraction, taking a trip around Marrakech on a horse drawn carriage is a great way to get your bearings and to see the city. Alternatively hire a local guide to take you around, which if you haven't been to Marrakech before, we recommend you do earlier on in your trip, as once you have your bearings you will get to know your way around the Medina (Abdellatif is one of Moroccos most experienced guides and will only recommend guides that he has worked with personally). You can't visit Marrakech without visiting the souks, however hard husbands try! Here, under cover, you will find ornate lamps, colourful leather bags, rugs, antique teapots, scarves, brilliantly coloured babouches (leather slippers), sensual djellabas and much, much more. Further afield in Gueliz there are some smarter shops, many owned by stylish French, which sell chic interior pieces, tasselled towels, gorgeous leather bags (Place Vendome) and fragrant candles. Those looking to come to Marrakech specifically for shopping must go to the Industrial zone where the famous Amira have their large shop which sells candles in virtually every colour of the rainbow (do pack an extra bag for your shopping!). Whilst visiting the Jardins Majorelles there is also a great shop just at the entrance which sells all sorts of lovely things for the home. If you are a regular visitor to Marrakech then there is a local bus service from Villa Dinari to the centre of Marrakech every thirty minutes. Camel rides, day trips to Essaouira, the desert and the Atlas Mountains are also popular with Villa Dinari guests. A stay in a Moroccan boutique hotel wouldn't be the same without enjoying a hammam followed by a massage or beauty treatment.
The well-stocked bar at Villa Dinari's pool is the place to be for a drink before dinner which can be enjoyed, candle-lit by the pool or a more private corner of the garden. Eating is very much part of your Villa Dinari experience and Nezha, the amazing chef and housekeeper, has worked with Heather and Abdellatif over the years to create a unique traditional menu with an international or modern twist. Heather and Abdellatif have their personal favourites when it comes to eating out in Marrakech and happily recommend where to eat and drink when in the Medina. Don't leave Villa Dinari without trying one of the stalls on the Jmaa el-Fna square. Heather's personal favourite is No. 14, which she assures us serves the best fish and chips (Moroccan Style) with sweet pepper and crushed aubergine salads.
