Nestled in the heart of Marrakech’s ancient Medina you’ll find Riad Noir d’Ivoire – an elegant oasis just steps away from the city’s bustling souks and streets. Steeped in history and character, charm abounds at this luxurious boutique spot. From the 9 individually designed rooms to the unfailingly attentive personal service, every detail has been carefully considered to make your stay as special as possible. You'll even have your baggage transported right to the door by 'Peanuts' the donkey!
Relax on a sun lounger by one of the hotel’s inviting heated pools or else retire to the cosy library to enjoy a fresh mint tea on one of the plush, feather-filled sofas surrounded by rare, leather-bound books. Come evening, the soothing sounds of jazz beckon you towards the pretty lounge bar: savour a cocktail or two here, before moving on to the open courtyard to dine by candlelight in the balmy evening air.
Riad Noir d'Ivoire is one of the few luxury riads to have a fully-licensed bar. The restaurant and lounge bar open onto the main courtyard, where you can dine by candlelight or sip an original cocktail while listening to jazz on the baby grand piano. The restaurant menu is both innovative and creative, proposing both Moroccan and international cuisine for lunch or dinner, and the chef is only too happy to organise a dinner a deux on the roof terrace, which has a spectacular view of the city.
To top it all off there is an excellent wine cellar which sets this hideaway apart from the other Marrakech riads.
What we loved...
One of the best riads in Marrakech. Luxurious, spacious and in a great location, Riad Noir d'Ivoire is a treat, not for the budget conscious but for those wanting a truly spoiling hotel experience in the Red City. I have visited twice and never tire of the themed suites.
- Lulu, Chic Retreats Founder
The riad has 9 rooms & suites, all of which have Satellite TVs, DVD players, WiFi, mini-bars, safes and tadelakt en-suite bathrooms with rain showers or showers & bath tubs. Attention has been paid to every detail throughout the rooms and hotel. The large, comfortable beds are fitted with fine Egyptian cotton bed linen and all the fabrics in the riad have been handwoven using luxurious combinations such as linen and leather. Each suite and room has an original style, incorporating furniture, antiques and objets d'arts in an eclectic range of materials.
Each of the 7 suites has its own working fireplace. The Master Suites are simply stunning, in particular, the Panthère Suite which has a separate study and dressing room, wing chairs and a wonderfully romantic four-poster bed. Its terrace has a large Jacuzzi and a wonderfully decadent double day bed as do Guepard and Zebre.
The Riad Noir d'Ivoire spa has an alluring scent, exuding traditional Moroccan fragrances such as Argan oil, rose flower water and orange blossom. Locally-produced bath products are provided for treatments and also in the rooms, including shower gels, shampoos and body creams, perfumed with fig and green tea. You can even buy some luxurious local products to take home with you from the boutique gift shop. A hammam beldi (traditional steam room) and massage treatment rooms are perfect for relaxing in, and there is a full time therapist whose talents include hot stone massage and sumptuous reflexology or relaxation massages.
In the cosy library , furnished in a more European style, there are feather-filled sofas and bookcases filled with an selection of rare and limited edition books. Guests can relax away from the busy streets of Marrakech's medina by the heated courtyard pool edged by sun loungers and chill out on the roof terrace.
This luxurious riad is right in the medina, so within easy reach of the sites and your hosts are happy to arrange excursions further afield. Take a day trip up into the Atlas Mountains visiting Berber villages and shopping in the souks, then meet up with a guide to visit the waterfalls. You could even spend a few nights in the desert and take a camel ride through the dunes to admire the spectacular sunsets, before returning for a few more relaxing days at Riad Noir d'Ivoire.
