Set in the Kasbah district of the medina, Riad Awa is a great value option for your stay in Marrakech. With just six bedrooms, each individually designed by the tasteful French owners, the style here is sleek and contemporary without losing any of the traditional charm of the riad.
WiFi can be a bit iffy at Awa but that’s nothing new in the medina – we should think with all those sights, sounds and smells right outside your door, you should have plenty enough to entertain you.
A good breakfast is served, and can be enjoyed up on the rooftop in fair weather.
The team at the riad can serve dinner but you will need to book in advance. The riad does not serve alcohol but are happy for you to bring your own.
The six rooms are decked out with big comfy beds, rich textiles in warm muted tones and soft lighting, with crisp white walls to keep things fresh. The tadelakt covered bathrooms are immaculately clean and come with the added treat of bathrobes – though it’s worth noting that despite being walled off, they don’t have doors so perhaps not suitable for those less than intimate with their travel companion.
All the rooms are lovely but those on the first floor tend to be quieter, so we’d recommend opting for the Standard (Beldi), Classic (Zellige), Comfort Double (Tadelakt) or the Suite options if you’re a light sleeper.
There is a split-level roof terrace with a small pool and a hammam with massages available.
Riad Awa is well placed to explore the best of Marrakech with most sights within walking distance of the hotel and Jemaa el Fna just a 15/20-minute walk away. The lovely staff are happy to help plan and arrange any tours you'd like to take and are on hand to guide your wanderings.
