Hospes Puerta de Alcalá is an impressive 44-room luxury hotel located on the Plaza de la Independencia, in the cultural heart of Madrid. The impressive 19th-century building has been updated with a décor that is pure understated luxury, with spacious rooms giving views over the Plaza or tranquil courtyard behind the hotel.
For a relaxed meal of tapas and regional specialties, the Malvar Terrace has excellent views of the Puerta de Alcalá and a casual ambience. For a more gastronomic dining experience, the Malvar Restaurant serves bold dishes paired with avant-garde cocktails in an elegant dining room.
There are 42-rooms spread across the 5 floors 19th-century building, decorated in warm, neutral colours, with some rooms featuring exposed beams and wooden pillars that add a bit of extra character. It is worth noting that if you a light sleeper it might be worth sacrificing the view of Plaza de la Independencia for a room overlooking the peaceful courtyard at the rear of the hotel instead, as the Plaza can get noisy at night.
If you’re after a little pampering then the fully-equipped Bodyna Spa attached to the hotel will provide for your every need with their range of natural treatments and massages which will leave you feeling fully vitalised.
The central location of Hospes Puerta de Alcalá makes it the perfect spot from which to explore Madrid. Art lovers won’t want to miss the Prado and Reina Soria museums, located just a short walk away from the hotel, while the Retiro park is ideal for a tranquil afternoon spent wandering along its leafy paths. The hotel is located on Serrano Street, the ‘golden mile’, where you will find all the major and luxury brands represented.
The area surrounding Plaza de la Independencia comes alive when darkness falls, and there are plenty of restaurants, tapas bars, and flamenco dancing to keep you occupied until the early hours of the morning.
