The last thing you might expect to find in Camberwell is a hotel with a Latin American theme. Yet the Church Street Hotel has just that. The reception is like walking into a palm reader’s booth, with colourful skulls and trinkets everywhere. Elaborate tiles, bold colours and beds that wouldn’t look out of place in a hacienda all come together to make this South East spot a unique find.
Run by two friendly brothers, you can expect charming service.
A great breakfast is served each morning in the neighbouring Angels & Gypsies restaurant, which also dishes up modern Spanish tapas during the day. There's an honesty bar in the hotel itself – ideal for that late-night tipple.
The 27 rooms are eclectic but spotless, and individually decorated in the hotel’s Cuban/Mexican style. It’s worth bearing in mind that not all rooms come with an en-suite, so if you like your privacy we recommend upgrading.
You're ideally located to explore London's hip South East, with Camberwell, Dulwich and Brixton right on the doorstep. Staff are more than happy to help arrange tours and travel.
