The smart neighbourhood of Belgravia in south-west London is home to COMO The Halkin, a luxury boutique hotel with 41 suites and rooms. Seen as a home-from-home by many repeat customers because of it's exceptional service and award-winning food, this is a luxe spot in the capital where all ages of children are welcome.
Georgian-style exteriors, Portland stone and arched windows set the scene for the cool, contemporary interiors. And there's a quiet garden out the back too.
As with all COMO Hotels and Resorts, food is a key element of the experience at COMO The Halkin which has fast become one of the top dining destinations in the capital.
In-house restaurant Ametsa uses top British ingredients to create Basque-inspired tapas dishes and larger sharing plates. How does Iberian ham croquetas, hake with clams in salsa verde, and acorn-fed pork presa with sweet potato sound? Start with a drink in the bar just off the lobby; this is also a relaxing spot for a light bite or lunch. Both quiet and private, it's ideal for small meetings too.
The hotel is also well-known for its Afternoon Tea, with Amesta offering an original (and Spanish-leaning) take on the much-loved tradition. Think inventive small delights such as tomato and watermelon soup, egg and waffle, and pineapple rice pudding. Pimp it with tea-based cocktails or champagne if the mood strikes.
The Halkin represents 5-star luxury on a smaller scale. The 41 contemporary light-filled rooms and suites allow you to enjoy downtime as well as providing a cool, contemporary workspace with complimentary WiFi throughout. There are both UK and US desktop powerpoints and all of the suites have their own Nespresso machine. Interactive TVs featuring satellite, movies on demand and a CD Jukebox, and a touch-screen console for lighting, temperature and contacting a butler are standard in all bedrooms.
COMO The Halkin is located on the doorstep of both Green and Hyde Park and the shops of Knightsbridge, and is also close to the museums of Kensington (Natural History Science, V&A) and a 15-minute walk from Buckingham Palace. The West End and theatreland are a half an hour walk away, and the area around the property is peppered with top restaurants, from Marcus Wareing and COYA Mayfair to Hide and Cafe Murano.
Use the hotel gym, book in some personal training or yoga sessions, and in-room COMO Shambhala spa treatments can be easily arranged too. Or if you prefer to have a treatment in a spa, visit COMO Shambhala at nearby sister hotel COMO Metropolitan London.
