Perched on the banks of the River Thames, Bingham is a stylish hotel in Richmond. The building has a rather unusual history: dating back to the 18th-century, it was formerly the residence of Lady Ann Bingham, before celebrated poets Katherine Bradley and Edith Cooper moved in.
Today, the two Georgian townhouses are home to a lovely boutique property with modern décor and quirky furnishings. And with only 15 rooms, the place has an intimate ambience, helped along by the wonderful staff who’re on hand to ensure you have a great stay.
Specialising in local British produce, the on-site restaurant is headed up by MasterChef: The Professionals winner Steven Edwards and serves tasting menus. There’s a great bar too – perfect for a pre-dinner tipple – and a lovely walled garden to enjoy a drink alfresco.
The Bingham has 15 individually styled bedrooms, each with comfortable beds, modern bathrooms and Art Deco touches; some have views to the Thames, others have in-room bathtubs.
Close to Kew Gardens, the London Wetland Centre, Chiswick House and Richmond Park, the Bingham is a great place for horticulturalists and nature-lovers alike. Marble Hill House also has open-air concerts during the summer months, which are well worth a visit.
