More like your dream apartment than a hotel, this lovingly executed boutique spot is hard to leave. If you like your holidays low-key, stylish and full of like-minded people then Casa das Janelas is the only place you should stay while in Lisbon.
The 15 lovely rooms have been each individually designed and the living-room-esque public space is beautifully stylish and dangerously comfortable. There's a sweet little terrace perfect for a glass of wine after a hard day's exploring.
This is an experience rather than a hotel, so it’s not for you if you prefer large-scale amenities, but with the most charming of staff you’ll be left feeling like a local in no time and will undoubtedly be leaving with a few style tips to apply in your own home.
It's worth noting that there is no lift and a fair few (steep) stairs, so this hotel is not suited to those that are less mobile.
A delicious breakfast is served in the lovely kitchen, inviting guests to chat and get to know one another around the large table.
Whilst there's no restaurant on site, there are numerous little cafés and restaurants to choose from within 5/10-minutes' walk of the hotel.
Each of the 15 lovely rooms are individually designed in a simple but elegant style with parquet flooring, big comfy beds and neat, modern bathrooms. Most of the small Double's, while a little snug, feature lovely views out over the city, while most Superior's offer more space and the possibilty of a balcony.
Casa das Janelas is tucked away in the lively and creative Bairro Alto area of Lisbon. Whilst you're about 15/20-minutes walk from the centre, this neighbourhood is known for it's great bars and restaurants and fun, bohemian feel.
