Casa de Hilario is a small and lovely boutique B&B on the outskirts of the pretty town of Yaiza. Set in the whitewashed buildings of an 18th-century finca, the casa offers views out over the dramatic landscape of Timanfaya National Park on one side, and down across the town and coast on the other.
If you’re looking for some serious peace and quiet away from the more touristy parts of the island, you’ll find it here. More guesthouse than hotel, you’re left almost to your own devices – ideal for those who enjoy a homely atmosphere, but perhaps not for those who require more attention.
Eclectically decorated and brim-full of character, Casa de Hilario is the idyllic spot for a relaxing getaway. The lovely terraces, dotted with palms and fringed with bougainvillea, are well placed to enjoy both the morning sun at breakfast and the spectacular sunsets each evening.
A great buffet breakfast is served on the sunny terrace, weather perimitting, and is included in most room rates (see detail below). There is no restaurant or bar but both can be found either in town or at the nearby sister property, La Casona de Yaiza.
The nine rooms are all individually styled with brightly painted walls, handmade furnishings and much attention to detail. Bathrooms are more brightly coloured still and come with the added treat of bathrobes.
Take a refreshing dip in the hotel’s swimming pool or pedal your way through the area on a hired bike. After a day’s exploring, unwind with a pampering massage, or try your hand at yoga (lessons can be arranged on request).
Located just outside the pretty village of Yaiza, Casa de Hilario is fairly remote but well placed to explore the island by car. Beaches are only a short drive away, including the beautiful Papagayo beach which is about 20km from the hotel.
This hotel is child-friendly, with babysitting available. It's worth noting that reception is not manned 24-hours a day, so we would recommend informing the hotel of your arrival time ahead of your stay.
How to get there
We would definitely recommend hiring a car to get to the hotel and best explore Lanzarote
Lanzarote Airport is a 20-minute drive from the hotel (18km)
