Surrounded by vineyards and boasting spectacular views out over the expansive grounds and surrounding Languedoc countryside - Château Les Carrasses is rather a special spot. This stunning 19th-century wine domaine offers unparallelled countryside chic with its elegant décor and exceptional service, not to mention the wonderful wine.
Children are very welcome at Les Carrasses and activities abound with tennis courts, boules and bicycles available to hire. Having said that, the pool is so inviting you may find it rather tricky to leave!
The brasserie and bar give Mediterranean cuisine a contemporary spin, complemented by the best regional wines and classic cocktails. All of the ingredients are locally sourced, using only the freshest produce. The menu is therefore continually changing, relying on the selection at the farmers markets. It’s worth noting that the restaurant is not open every day outside of the peak summer months.
Drinks can be enjoyed throughout the day by the pool, in the salon, or on any one of several terraces. The chefs are also happy to prepare you a takeaway meal or picnic if you fancy eating in your room or in the grounds.
The 28 suites, apartments and villas at Château Les Carrasses are all furnished in an elegant country chic style and modelled on the original 19th-century buildings. Whilst the suites are set in the château, the self-catering options are dotted around the grounds in the estate’s restored outbuildings with some sleeping up to eight people.
Château Les Carrasses has beautiful and extensive gardens featuring a floodlit clay tennis court, volleyball court, boules pitch and elegant conservatory (rumoured to have been designed by Gustave Eiffel, no less). The infinity pool is a particularly inviting spot, plant-flanked it offers views out over the gardens and is complete with a beach effect shallow section so you can lounge in the water (open in the summer months).
If you're feeling virtuous, a personal trainer is available who can put you through your paces during your stay. Golfers will relish the fact that there are four courses within an hour of the Chateau.
During the high season there is a children's club (subject to a minimum number of children), with qualified staff and a wide range of activities and outdoor events. The daytime base of the club is home to a large range of toys and games, as well as a TV, DVDs and a Wii. Babysitting can be arranged.
Nestled amongst the vines, there is a strong wine theme to the hotel with regular tastings, vineyard walks and classes on the winemaking process. Aside from the château’s own wine (produced in their sister cellar nearby) - there are plenty of other estates to be explored nearby including Picpoul de Pinet and St-Chinian.
One of Lulu's favourite areas in France - it is well worth exploring the region during your stay here. Beautiful beaches, rolling hills, expansive vineyards and charming villages are all within reach of the Château.
