Named after the celebrated Polish astronomer, Nicolaus Copernicus, this Chic Retreat hosts a rather renaissance style. Original frescoes, a collection of ancient manuscripts, wooden-beamed ceilings and roaring open fireplaces have all been meticulously restored to create a beautiful boutique hotel which, despite dating back to the 14th-century has all the creature comforts you’d expect.
Our favourite part of Hotel Copernicus has to be its lovely rooftop terrace, where you take in the stunning views over Wawel Castle and St Peter & St Paul Church. They’re not far to walk to either: Hotel Copernicus is located in the centre of Krakow, about 5-minutes' walk from Wawel Castle and 15-minutes from the Old Town’s key sights.
Fuel your day with a continental buffet breakfast, which is served each morning. Later in the day, make sure to visit the Michelin-recommended Copernicus Restaurant, where you can tuck into delicious Polish cuisine in a charming, galleried setting.
Each of the 29 rooms come in a variety of different shapes and sizes, but all are tastefully decorated with comfortable beds and large bathrooms. Most rooms open out into the central atrium, but we’d recommend requesting a room on the top floor for fantastic views out over the Krakow skyline.
Dating back to the 14th-century, this old-world building has been revamped to house the hotel’s modern facilities. Even the wine cellars haven’t escaped refurbishment and now house a rather stylish swimming pool and spa complete with vaulted ceilings. There is even a fitness centre if all of the sightseeing hasn’t worn you out.
