The boutique hotel chain Casa del Mare offers a lovely little line up of small and charming properties in the increasingly popular Montenegro, and Capitano is no different. With just eight rooms, there’s a decidedly intimate feel here and the lovely staff offer impeccable service without becoming intrusive.
Set just back from the beach in the UNESCO-protected Old Captain's Palace in pretty Kamenari, this is a great spot from which to explore the delights of Kotor Bay. Kamenari itself is rather a low-key village but with the ferry terminal just a short walk away, you can easily hop on a boat and explore further afield.
A range of local and continental specialities are served for breakfast, which is included in most room rates. There is also a charmingly intimate restaurant on site that dishes up delicious Mediterranean cuisine, and the beach bar is a must for sipping on a cocktail as you watch the sunset.
The décor in each of the eight rooms is best described as seaside chic, with crisp white linens and flashes of blue sitting nicely alongside exposed stone walls. Bathrooms are modern and come with the added treat of bathrobes and slippers. There is some noise from the nearby ferry terminal but nothing too bothersome and, if you opt for a sea view, it's rather nice watching the boats come and go from your room. It's worth noting that there is no lift so this property may not be suited to those less mobile.
There is a small pool set in a pretty terrace ‒ perfect for cooling off after a day’s sunbathing. In summer months, guests can take advantage of the free sun loungers and parasols on the pretty beach in front of the sister hotel, just a 5-minute walk away. Fancy some pampering? A range of massages are available, which can be enjoyed on the beachfront or in the comfort of your own room. Bike hire can also be arranged through the hotel.
