There are a variety of rooms on offer across the main house, an adjacent converted stable block and the Lake Lodge that's a 10-minute walk away. Whilst rooms in the main house have a slightly more traditional feel with some of the old building's original features still in place, there's a pleasingly contemporary country style throughout with big comfy beds and modern bathrooms.
Liss Ard Estate is an elegantly executed rural retreat with all the landscaped, green trimmings that you could wish for.
Built in 1853 by the O'Donovan chiefs, the Georgian-style property and its estate have been beautifully converted to create a stylish 25-bedroom boutique hotel.
With expansive grounds and an impressive 50-acre lake, this is a wonderful spot to really escape from it all.
Liss Ard Estate is available to hire for weddings and events.
When you’ve tired of strolling around the lovely gardens, there’s a lake that you can dip into or explore on one of the hotel’s kayaks. If that’s not enough, also included on the 160-acre estate is the iconic Irish Sky Garden. Designed by James Turrell, a famed American artist, the Sky Garden or Crater is an impressive construction shaped like a bowl, the aim being to enable visitors to properly admire the Irish sky.
A delicious, wholesome breakfast with homemade jams is served (included in most room rates – check detail below).
There is also a fantastic restaurant open in the summer months serving an innovative menu that focusses on seasonal, local produce and incorporates ingredients from the estate's own garden (not open every night, advance booking recommended). Afternoon Tea is also available on request – out on the lawn (weather permitting) or in the drawing room (advance booking required).
