A relatively unusual spot for Ibiza, the Marquis is a kooky, decently priced option for your trip to the popular white isle. Adult-only, the service here is great and the atmosphere very laidback.
The complex, made up of a restored 19th-century farmhouse, bohemian wooden cabins and a nicely-sized pool area, is wonderfully peaceful. Worth mentioning that clothing is optional around the pool – great for those with a fear of tan lines, perhaps less so for the more prudish.
You’ll probably want to be in possession of a car, mind, as it’s worth doing some exploring. It's also worth noting that reception is not manned 24-hours a day, so you'll need to contact the hotel to confirm your arrival time ahead of travel. This property is not suitable for those under 18 years of age.
A good breakfast featuring homemade bread and pastries is served until late and is included in most room rates (see detail below).
There is no restaurant on site but you are spoilt for choice in nearby Santa Gertrudis. There is also a sweet little honesty bar for all your evening tipple needs.
The nine bedrooms are set across the main house and a number of little wooden huts dotted about the garden. If you opt for the latter and are after a little more privacy, ask for a bungalow that’s a little further away from the others, as some can feel a little too neighbourly.
There is a lovely pool area (open in the summer months and clothing optional). The hotel's gardens are lovely with fruit trees aplenty and hammocks beckoning for an afternoon snooze.
Located just outside the little town of Santa Gertrudis, slap bang in the middle of Ibiza island, the hotel offers a peaceful retreat whilst being a short drive from the action. Ibiza Old Town is a 20-minute drive from the hotel and the nearest beach around the same.
