Set amongst an Arcadian landscape of gnarled olive groves and swaying fields of barley, Ca Na Xica Hotel & Spa is a peaceful retreat offering sanctuary from Ibiza’s hectic nightlife. The main building has a rural décor of warming shades and features such as exposed beams and stonework, while the outdoor pool area is a blissful oasis lined with fruit and olive trees.
Ca Na Xica is home to Salvia Ibiza, housed inside a strikingly contemporary building amongst fields of barley and grass. All of the ingredients are sourced locally, some of them even from the hotel’s own orchards, and the cuisine ranges from traditional flavours such as Ibiza chicken marinated with herbs and lemon, to international dishes such as raw tuna tataki with seaweed and pickled vegetables.
There are 20 guest rooms in the main building of Ca Na Xica, all of which share the same rural décor with details such as exposed wooden ceiling beams. The 14 premier suites are located in a small area adjacent to the main building, and are strikingly modern in their design.
The tree-lined outdoor saltwater pool is a gorgeous place to cool off during the summer heat, with bucolic views of the surrounding valley. If you need a bit of pampering, the private spa offers a range of treatments and massages: try the total body treatment scrub, using honey, sea salt, and olive oil.
The hotel is a short drive from the town of San Miguel. The town’s fortified church dominates the surrounding area, and is worth a visit, especially on summer evenings when you might be lucky enough to see an impressive folk-dancing display. Further on you will find the hippy-haven of Benirrás Beach, as well as the fascinating smugglers’ caves at Can Marça.
