The Red Feather Inn is an historical small luxury hotel in Hadspen, close to Australia's third oldest city, Launceston. Built circa 1842 to the designs of colonial Georgian architect John Sprunt using convict labour, this was one of Tasmania's first coaching inns. The interior of this small luxury hotel with its beautiful sandstone exterior and large gardens has been lovingly reinvented by owner Lydia Nettlefold who has imbued it with French provincial charm with her keen eye for detail & style. Fabrics, furniture and curios blend together to create a wonderful rustic feel and coupled with the inviting gourmet inn house meals, this small boutique hotel of just 5 rooms & suites has a charming home away from home ambiance.
The magnificent landscape of Tasmania is close to hand from The Red Feather Inn. Explore the wonders of the Great Western Tiers or try fly-fishing in the highland lakes. Take a country walk or cycle, explore the wine regions, take to the golf courses or explore Launceston, just 10 minutes from the door.
Alternatively, stay in, pop on a CD and cuddle up with a book or DVD or relax in the peaceful garden; play some croque, tennis, petonque or chess. There are many ways guests can happily while away an afternoon in this welcoming chic retreat. Complimentary internet is also available.
The Red Feather Inn makes a sumptuous antipasto platter great for sharing, and offer a table d'hôte menu for 8 or more people. On the menu are gorgeous pasta dishes, homely pies and thai green curry, while for pudding enjoy the Red Feather butterscotch bread and butter pudding with Tasmanian double cream, enough to make anyone's mouth water. To compliment your meal, choose a Tasmanian wine from the wine list.
