Settled at the end of a picturesque Cypress-lined drive, within a seven-hectare estate of gnarled olive groves and sweeping lawns, the three villas of Querciafelice are a secluded and peaceful hideaway. Owned and managed by Milanese interior designer Federica Maglione, the eclectic interiors are a colourful mix of pastel-hues, bold printed patterns, and curiosities collected by Federica during her travels. There’s a swimming pool for those sultry Italian summers, and plenty of spots to find a slice of peace and quiet within the lush gardens of the estate.
Federica lives on the property, and is often on hand to welcome you with a glass of wine and to suggest activities for your stay. The hotel’s location is perfect for exploring the ancient Etruscan villages and beautiful coastline of the surrounding region of Maremma, and there are also cooking classes on offer for those that want a real taste of Tuscany. Relaxed and charming in equal measure, this is the perfect getaway for families looking to experience the delights of rural Italy.

    Host Story

Querciafelice is my way of slow living in Maremma. It’s a place to greet new people, a place where we can share ideas in an enchanting space, taste good healthy food and a glass of wine, or just simply enjoy a nice walk along the beach. It's for everyone who loves peace, quiet, clean air and nature.

Unwind amidst the gorgeous scenery of the hotel’s estate, which features ancient olive trees, pristine lawns and fragrant rose gardens. Relax on a chaise-lounge beneath the shade of the poolside gazebo with a good book, or dive into the pool’s refreshing waters during the summer months. For those of a more active disposition, there is a tennis court and an artificial football ground on-site. If you want to learn more about Tuscan cooking, Federica can arrange a cooking class. Over the course of the three-hour lesson, you’ll learn how to create mouthwatering dishes using the organic produce from the hotel’s own vegetable garden, before enjoying your culinary creations for lunch.

The hotel is in an ideal location to explore the lesser-known delights of Maremma. The delightful village of Manciano is just a short drive away, where you can savour the local produce at its market before ducking into a rustic osteria for a glass of Tuscan wine. Alternatively, take a trip to the medieval town of Pigiliano, or relax in the calming thermal baths at Saturnia. Keen golfers will enjoy the 18-hole course found at Saturnia, or the year-round course at nearby Chic Retreat Argentario Golf Resort & Spa. If you long for the feeling of sand between your toes and the sea-breeze in your hair, the region’s beautiful beaches are just under an hour’s drive from the hotel.

The villas have access to a fully-fitted outdoor kitchen, perfect for creating your own al fresco masterpieces (especially if you have taken Federica’s Tuscan food masterclass!) You’ll have access to some of Italy’s finest produce, including the estate’s own extra-virgin olive oil, tangy pecorino cheese and plump tomatoes.

If you want to treat yourself, head to the wonderful Da Caino, where chef Valeria Piccini has gained two Michelin stars, just a 20-minute drive from Querciafelice. The award-winning local Montalto Winery produces Sangiovese sparking wine of rare quality and is just 10 minutes away by car.
