Traditional Mayfair townhouse
Only when you book with Chic
A sophisticated, luxury hotel situated in historic St. James’s in the heart of Mayfair. Since the 16th century, when Henry VIII built his palace here, the area has been an exclusive retreat for London society.
With its traditional façade and inviting courtyard, Dukes evokes a quintessentially British feel. Dating from 1908 its heritage seems key to its popularity. Friendly doormen warmly welcome you into the lobby where the tradition continues in the décor. Soft blues, warm dark woods and walls adorned with oil paintings greet you inside. The recent refurbishment has brought modern technology to the hotel but don’t expect high-tech key cards, just a reassuringly old fashioned door key on a branded keyring.
Although situated in the heart of London, Dukes is something of a secret hideaway. The hotel inhabits its own space, bringing sophistication and style to its guests, together with warm and friendly service from a bygone era.
Great British Restaurant
Situated in the basement at Dukes this modern British restaurant serves traditional fare with a contemporary twist. With an opulent brasserie feel the restaurant has a 1920s appeal, with distressed mirrors, black and white photos and a ‘bar’ where you can sit and eat too. Overseen by Executive Head Chef Nigel Mendham, the GBR focuses on bringing the best out of British classics. Feast on beer battered haddock, chips and minted peas or a tasty haggis scotch egg which is served with bramley apple and whiskey sauce. Delicious, comfort food at its best with menus that leave you salivating.
The restaurant is open all-day, from breakfast through to lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. The restaurant also includes a 12-seat private dining room and a 7-seat bar which overlooks the main restaurant.
The martinis served here are the stuff of legend and considered to be among the best in the world. Coupled with the fact that Ian Fleming used to drink his ‘Bond’ martinis here you shouldn’t need any more enticement. The elegant bar with its comfy velvet armchairs is the perfect place to kick back and relax. The personalised cocktails, served by a world class bartending team will also make it difficult for you to leave.
The Cognac and Cigar Garden
A secluded garden provides the backdrop for beautiful food and cocktails. Exclusively in partnership with Remy Martin, the hotel offers carefully crafted pairings of cognacs and cigars. Enjoy, experience and indulge your senses.
Quintessential Afternoon Tea
The hotel offers this service in the elegant drawing rooms. Afternoon tea is taken seriously here and there are a variety of different menus to sample, from traditional afternoon tea to a champagne one. There is even one specifically tailored to children.
The Dukes St James's has 90 rooms including five deluxe suites, nine junior suites and one stunning penthouse. The ensuite marble bathrooms are supplied with complimentary toiletries from British perfumers Penhaligan. Bed linen is of the finest 400 count Egyptian cotton and cotton Turkish bathrobes are supplied. Flat screen TVs, complimentary WiFi and Bluetooth speakers with USB sockets are installed in all rooms.
The hotel offers Picnic in the Park where food is specially prepared by the Great British Restaurant and offered to you at The Green Park or St James’s Park. With various levels of service available, why not treat yourself to a butler for three hours, to set up, serve and clear everything away.
