Valle de Lunas is a fabulously romantic Andalucian escape for adults only deep in Southern Spain's Driving Over Lemons country. Its owners Dominic and Lesley-Anne have poured love and care into every detail of the conversion of this former farmhouse into three luxurious self-catering suites, filling the apartments with original art and charming furniture, stocking the kitchens with delicious food and drink and providing the warmest of personal welcomes for their guests. Complete privacy, a swimming pool, separate outdoor areas for each suite and an atmosphere of total relaxation make this the ideal retreat for couples seeking R&R. Named after the vast, twinkling night skies, void of light pollution, Valle de Lunas offers awe-inspiring views over the Andalucian countryside, especially at night, when guests can view the phases of the moon which give their names to the suites: Henna Moon, Red Moon and Blue Moon. Situated in the village of Tijola, home to Driving Over Lemons author Chris Stewart, the cortijo is 30 minutes from the coast, 45 minutes from Granada and just over an hour from the Sierra Nevada mountains. We can think of few better places to take a hard-working loved one to unwind for a thoroughly spoiling treat.
The owners Lesley-Anne and Dominic, live on-site and though the suites at Valle de Lunas are self-catering they are on hand to help with any suggestions. They have created a relaxed, discreet, barefoot chic retreat with pretty gardens and a sparkling pool with ‘sundowner’ terrace for guests to enjoy. The coast is just 30 minutes away and Granada is only a little further at 45 minutes. The ski resort of Sierra Nevada is just an hour and ten minute's driving allowing you to be on the slopes in less than 2 hours!
The 3 suites at Valle de Lunas are all self-catering so a hire car is recommended. The market town of Orgiva is just a few miles away and has a great selection of bars, cafes and restaurants. The Thursday market is definitely worth a visit and there are plenty of stalls selling seasonal, local and organic products. Valle de Lunas has their own local baker, Antonio, who comes directly to the door with freshly baked sweet and savoury delicacies.
